South Africa beat New Zealand to finish 3rd in U-19 world cup
South Africa beat New Zealand by 8 wickets and finish third at the ICC under-19 world cup 2012 on saturday in the third-fourth position playoff at the Endeavour Park in Townsville. South Africa and New Zealand had earlier lost semi-finals to Australia and India respectively.
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. But the South African bowlers proved that it was a wrong decision by the New Zealand captain to bat first as they were bowled out for just 90 runs in 36.5 overs. South Africa chased down the score in just 14.4 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
David Rhoda (4/26 in 9.5 overs), Calvin Savage (3/14 in 4 overs) and Jan Frylinck (2/18 in 5 overs) were the match winners of South Africa. Calvin Savage was awarded the man of the match title.
