Pieterson out of England's T20 World Cup squad

         Following the text message controversy, Kevin Pietersen who was dropped from team for the third test against South Africa earlier, was also left out of England's T20 world cup squad. Expaining Pieterson's omission, England national selector Geoff Miller said, "Kevin Pietersen's future involvement is still being determined and he was therefore not considered for selection in either squad."

         Pieterson was the man of the tournament when England won the T20 world cup in 2010 and it was the first time they had lifted a major piece of International Cricket Council silverware. The T20 world cup starts next month in Sri Lanka, with England beginning the defence of their title against Afghanistan on September 21.


England squad: Stuart Broad (captain), Jonathan Bairstow, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Craig Kieswetter (wicket-keeper), Michael Lumb, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Graeme Swann and Luke Wright.

        While ECB has abandoned Pieterson, former Australian spinner Shane Warne has come up to defend his friend. Warne said English cricket authorities were partly to blame for the current situation. He described the situation "tragic" and he called for a compromise.
