India beat Australia to win Under-19 World Cup 2012


     By beating the defending Champions Australia in the final, India bagged the Under-19 World Cup 2012 at Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville. Yes! The Indian boys did it again. Captain Unmukt Chand led from the front with a magnificent hundred to lead India to their third Under 19 title with a 6 wicket win.

         Unmukt scored an unbeaten 111 which is his third consecutive hundred in a tournament final for India under-19 and establishes him as one to watch out for in the years to come. His unbroken partnership of 130 runs with glovesman Smit Patel, led India to chase and beat the target of 226 with 14 balls left. The Indian bowlers also did their job well. Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for India, grabbing 4 wickets in his 10 overs that conceded 54 runs and included a couple of maidens. Among the Aussies batsmen, Captain  William Bosisto scored an unbeaten 87 along with a few cameos that helped them to reach a compitetive total of 225.
