Mohammad Akram appointed as Pakistan's new Bowling Coach

The Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) appointment the former fast bowler Mohammad Akram as the new bowling coach of the national team on a one year contract. The 37-year old Akram replaces another former fast bowler, Aaqib Javed, who left the job in March this year to take up a coaching assignment in the United Arab Emirates. Akram will join the squad  for the series against Australia.

Akram has represented Pakistan in 9 Tests and 23 One-day Internationals during 1995 to 2001 and mostly played as a sidekick to the illustrious pace duo of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis during the first half of his career. Later, he was overshadowed by the rise of fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami. He has taken 17 test wickets and 19 ODI wickets.
